May We Never Forget about Jesus!

“Do you not find yourselves forgetful of Jesus? Some creature steals away your heart, and you are unmindful of him upon whom your affection ought to be set. Some earthly business engrosses your attention when you should have your eye steadily fixed upon the cross. It is the incessant round of world, world, world; the constant din of earth, earth, earth, that takes away the soul from Christ. Oh! my friends, is it not too sadly true that we can recollect anything but Christ, and forget nothing so easy as him whom we ought to remember? While memory will preserve a poisoned weed, it suffereth the Rose of Sharon to wither.”

C.H. Spurgeon

Let us always remember it is about Jesus! This is something that is hard for us to do, even though we say it is not. We claim to brag about Jesus all the day when we do not live it out in our own lives, we do not spend time with him, in stillness knowing he is Lord! Our head is full and our heart is emtpy.

I don’t know about you, but my mind tends to wander. I make life all about me, or I make it all about somebody else. And the sad thing is, I let this world get the best of me. The world becomes my friend! I believe Spurgeon got it right in the above quote. I think when it comes to Jesus, we can have memory loss, and that can get in the way of our walk with Jesus if we are not careful.

Those of us who are born again, Christ should ever be before us, as we live for Him! Through the work of the cross, God brings us into beautiful fellowship with him! Let our lives be full of Jesus’ sweet fragrance and let His praise be on our lips! Our efforts should all be built around the cross. We should see sin as evil and when we fall into it we should be quick to repent, and walk with God. Whatever we do, no matter how busy we get, let it always be about Jesus! May we never forget about Jesus! Let our hearts and minds be full of Him!
